Note, you actually need to have your printer plugged in for lsusb to be useful.

These are the printer drivers:

sudo eopkg install https://packages.solus-project.com/unstable/b/brother-dcp7060d/brother-dcp7060d-2.1.0-1-1-x86_64.eopkg

Thanks sunnyflunk for your work. Comments follow.

I'm not seeing much that would make it go wrong.

Just to make sure can you follow these steps for me:

  • Remove the printer (not the package, but in the printer configuration)
  • Reboot
  • Add a new printer making sure to select 'DCP7060D for CUPS (en)' as the driver
  • Try to use printer
  • Add the contents of /var/log/cups/error_log her for me to look at if still not working (attach the file if it is more than 50 lines)
  1. Booted the computer with the USB printer plugged in but turned OFF.
  1. Menu-Sundry-Print settings: selected and deleted DCP-7060D printer
  1. Reboot + printer turn ON.
  1. Menu-Sundry-Print settings: a New-Printer window displays with the following options:

Brother DCP-7060D (U62711H2N365466)
Generic CUPS-BRF
LPT #1
Enter URI
Network Printer

  1. Selected Brother DCP-7060D (U62711H2N365466) and clicked FORWARD
  1. A Choose-Driver window displays: highlighted Brother + clicked FORWARD
  1. In the next window/left pane: highlighted DCP7060D for CUPS. In the right pane: selected Brother DCP7060D for CUPS(en) (recommended).
  1. Next window Describe-Printer: clicked APPLY + entered Password + clicked Print-Test-Page ... and
  1. A Print-Test-Page printed successfully.
  1. Opened a 2-page LO Writer document: Print-Preview + Print + Select Range Page 2 only and ... page 2 printed successfully.

Know that I am very grateful to you for your work as it will also benefit other users.

As a follow-up, I downloaded SimpleScan to further test the drivers but was unable to scan. Brother DCP7060D being a multifunction product, my understanding was that the scanner driver was included in the package. Still, I remain very grateful that I can print. Again thanks a lot and hopefully you will find the possibility to add the scanner driver at your convenience. This scanner driver can also be had from Arch AUR.

The scanner is combined for all models (well all recent models)

sudo eopkg install https://packages.solus-project.com/unstable/b/brscan4/brscan4-0.4.4_4-1-1-x86_64.eopkg

Thanks for providing the link to the scanner driver.
With the printer on, installation completed successfully.
Rebooted. Launched Simple Scan application which correctly identified my Brother printer.
Proceeded with scanning and saving a document.
Bingo! Success all the way.
With gratefulness!
