Nerd Fonts is a project that patches developer targeted fonts with a high number of glyphs (icons). Specifically to add a high number of extra glyphs from popular 'iconic fonts' such as Font Awesome ➶, Devicons ➶, Octicons ➶, and others.
Can be used by zsh shell to make it more beautiful, example you can have a little house icon when you are in $HOME, a github icon when your are in a git directory hosted on github...etc
They can be used by fish shell, zsh, vim-airline and others that are powerline-styled @DataDrake. The nerd fonts have more, and arguably better glyphs than the powerline fonts.
Some tiling WM users also use the extra glyphs for panels instead of loading a second font like FontAwesome. Makes coding some of the bare-bones panels easier as there's only one font to deal with.
Question, should someone really packages this? The full source is over 2 GB big or shall we only package the single zip files?
Just looked at the releases page again. This literally is just a bundle of dozens of different fonts (and licenses >.<) . Please request the ones you actually use individually. We already have many of these.
