When writing text in some programs, the special characters (i.e. accents) do not work.

As a temporal workaround until proper IBus support comes to Solus (T778/T779), you can try adding a autostart file for the IBus Daemon in ~/.config/autostart like this:

[Desktop Entry]
Type=Application
Name=IBus Daemon
Exec=ibus-daemon -dr
Icon=ibus

Works for most applications but WPS Office.
