Why? In my view it is superior to Spotify in that it combines streaming and owning music, has a fairer model to pay independent artists and more actively supports DRM-free music. I am not sure to what extent they provide more privacy than Spotify but from the values I have seen I'd much rather use this application than any other similar one.
Open source: A tarball is provided but not sure whether that is a source tarball or not.
