Can't enter OS with Bluetooth keyboard
Closed, WontfixPublic

Description

Hi,
I installed the system on a new desktop computer but now can't enter it, as it requires password entry at the point when my Bluetooth keyboard is not yet hooked up. Ended up ordering a USB keyboard anyway, but I thought I should report this issue here.

AN UPDATE: I bought a USB keyboard and used it to enter the installed OS for the first time. After that, I set up the Bluetooth keyboard again (the first time was during installation), and now it is initialized without a problem in the login dialogue. This means the problem only exists when OS is run for the first time.

In my view, adding a virtual keyboard option in the login dialogue could be a solution.

I'm slightly confused by this. I've never heard of bluetooth pairing being available in any Linux distro until first login. If you have had it working on some other distro we can look deeper. Otherwise, this would be functionality the LightDM/GDM devs would be expected to provide.

I'm a beginner in Linux, and am merely suggesting to add a simple virtual keyboard functionality.
