Audio Recorder is more feature-rich than Gnome Sound Recorder, allowing user defined audio sources and recordings from Skype and media players.
recordings from Skype
Except that isn't accurate at all, even from the developers they stated:
Microsoft has NOT YET implemented the Skype-API in the very latest Skype version. It cannot communicate with Audio-Recorder or other desktop applications due to missing DBus API.
I believe this particular comment from the developers only refers to the latest Skype for Linux Alpha version which is an entirely different application than the previous Skype client (4.3.0.37) I have used to record Skype calls. Version 4.3.0.37 had Skype-API implemented.
I don't see the value of this over input capture in Audacity. We no longer support Skype 4.X.
Does Gnome Sound Recorder even record speaker output? Audio Recorder seems not only to be able to record speaker output but individual program audio output. Please reconsider adding Audio Recorder to the Solus repository.
it does way more than default gnome sound recorder with much more features than default gnome sound recorder and a much nicer and simpler tool than Audacity to do a simple recording of your desktop audio or specific audio of an application which default gnome sound recorder can do, much prefer this and it's simplicity over Audacity
please add this to the repos it's nice simple tool for the job!
