NetworkManager-libreswan - Network Manager VPN Plugin
Closed, ResolvedPublic

Name: NetworkManager-libreswan

There seems to be other Network Manager plugins already available. My workplace uses many Openswan and Libreswan VPNs, none of the current packages seem to allow me to connect with L2TP over IPSEC VPNs. This is present out of the box on Mac OSX so it would be great if Solus could be on par with it.

Seems a no brainer

i just got the (urgent) need for this since ive been using solus privately and now on the new company laptop...
and they decided to give me an l2tp tunnel.
since im not about to leave solus (in fact im loving the fact i can finally use it on the company laptop too) im hoping this will be included sooner rather than later

I believe it will be a bit more work then just adding the networkmanager-libreswan packet. This requires LibreSwan/OpenSwan, to be able to configure IPSec accordingly. It also requires the actual l2tp packet, I think xl2tpd is a good alternative.

I don't know much about this, this is just my findings if I decided to build it from source my self.

I'm however really positive towards having L2TP over IPsec support in Solus, as it is becoming a de facto standard by Companies and Authorities.

Hello, is there any status update at l2tp support? I need for my work, is there any work around to do?

I got this from reddit. Unfortunatelly, I never got the instructions from lugi2600 to work and I ended up installing Ubuntu on my work machine. :(

I saw these posts at reddit but I have no idea how to implement these things. There are no instructions. Is there any way someone to add l2tp support at solus? It’s a pitty such a great distro without a major vpn support. Is it too difficult? I have no idea about stuff like this, the difficulty, implementation time etc..
