Poppler and Improper Japanese Font Support in PDF
Closed, WontfixPublic

Description

Poppler is all working fine for regular PDF documents, but I work with asian documents as well and Japanese support is not working out of the box. It requires poppler-data to be installed in /usr/share. This should be packaged by default.

After doing this however, Japanese font support works but in the case of my documents, the roman characters written through Japanese fonts are still not displayed. This does not happen on other distros when poppler-data is installed. Note that opening the same document through Firefox's pdf,js makes it display properly, so this is really a desktop application configuration issue.

Based on the text, it seems like poppler-data is all that's required. This was added awhile ago and would have been pulled in on update. Of any further issues then reopen the task.

Please do not close the issue without doing proper testing. I have poppler-data and installed all to the latest versions of the repository, and I just checked again and Japanese text is still not properly shown on screen. If you need a sample file please ask me.

If you need a sample file please ask me.

That would be essential. It is more likely a missing font
