Tried with both native libraries and Steam runtime.
This is the error I get:
"error while loading shared libraries: libvpx.so.1: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory"
Libvpx was installed by default and I also installed 32bit version of it to no avail.

Nice! Adding libvpx1-32bit did fix the issue with the OpenGL version of the game. However, it also comes with a classic dosbox variant, which fails to launch because libmikmod.so.2 isn't available.
Ok, can confirm that this is a library included in the steam runtime.
Note that this requires a new steam compat package (32bit as well), as the version in the repo is too new (steam runtime version was libmikmod 3.1.12)
