I have the starting of this already done so far. I'm doing some research to see what can be done to make proper use of acpi scripts to better handle events themselves, if needed. Just having acpid interception alone does a lot though.

I'm going to step up to maintain this. NVIDIA is starting to complain in their driver when acpid doesn't exist, they use it for event notifications.
