Description

Name:
SoundConverter

Description:
SoundConverter is the leading audio file converter for the GNOME Desktop. It reads anything GStreamer can read (Ogg Vorbis, AAC, MP3, FLAC, WAV, AVI, MPEG, MOV, M4A, AC3, DTS, ALAC, MPC, Shorten, APE, SID, MOD, XM, S3M, etc...), and writes to Opus, Ogg Vorbis, FLAC, WAV, AAC, and MP3 files, or use any GNOME Audio Profile.
SoundConverter aims to be simple to use, and very fast. Thanks to its multithreaded design, it will use as many cores as possible to speed up the conversion. It can also extract the audio from videos.

This program is free software; you can redistribute it and/or modify it under the terms of the GNU GPLv3.

Don't triage items @robingroppe. There is a triage team for a reason.

I've been pretty busy lately and haven't found the time to work on this, so if anyone else wants to fulfill this request, feel free to do so; otherwise I'll take care of it when I have time. ^^

I would love to have it in Solus :D

Landed in unstable:

R2936:0d0f3cb2394f: Initial working soundconverter

Sorry for the delay, had to sort out some gstreamer bits.

Installed SoundConverter, does not run. Terminal output:
"SoundConverter 2.1.6
SoundConverter needs python-gstreamer 0.10! ", which seems to be unavailable in the repo?

there is a gst-python package but it's for gstreamer 1.10

EDIT: Since gstreamer 0.10 is dead, wouldn't it be a better idea to evaluate soundconverter 3.0.0 although it is still in beta rather than packaging rather than building a gst 0.10 python binding package ?

It's just a question...
