Closed, InvalidPublic

Description

Lenovo W540 screen brightness hotkeys not working ( sound and other hotkeys working). I can modify screen brightness from Power menu by moving the slider.

(In every other dirstros (10+) what I tried I haven't had issue with Lenovo hotkeys.)

I will gladly provide more information if needed. Here is Laptop specs:

Is this still an issue?

Have you tried different kernel boot options? Like,

sudo su

mkdir -p /etc/kernel

echo 'Some CLI option/argument without quotes' > /etc/kernel/cmdline

clr-boot-manager update

For example, on the Lenovo B570, the screen brightness and color temp control require the argument 'acpi_backlight=none'.

Other common ones are 'acpi_osi=Linux' or 'acpi_osi=!Windows 2012', or 'acpi_backlight=vendor', etc. You can find one that matches your hardware, I'm sure.
