grive2 - google drive sync
Closed, WontfixPublic

Description

Name: grive
Home: https://github.com/Grive/grive
Why : the utility drive in solus can't do proper sync, it manually requires "drive pull" and "drive push" which may lead to unexpected deletion of files from google drive or locally. this is dangerous with "drive utility" as provided with solus. And the purpose of synchronization is destroyed if the utility itself deletes local and remote files unexpectedly.

grive synchronizes the files, and does not delete files either locally. Also only a single command "grive" synchornizes, whereas to use the drive utility the user has to think whether to pull or push. this is additional burden.

OSS?: Yes

please consider adding grive to solus, as I use grive in fedora and ubuntu, it will make syncing files across distros easy and grive is reliable. thank you.

This package would be dead-on-arrival and additionally does not pass our 2-Distro Waiver. See our package inclusion policy here.

DOA (dead-on-arrival) packages are generally rejected from Solus. However, they may be included at the discretion of the project, if they provide unique functionality. In addition, this software MUST comply with the 2-Distro Waiver.

I don't understand the mumbo jumbo of (dead on arrival) and 2-distro waiver.

Here's grive2 eopkg and package.yml

You already have 2 google drive clients which are most difficult and confusing to use.

rclone
drive

Try the above with your data. let's see how comfortable are the above utilities.

grive2 takes only 2 commands which makes it awesome, and it is very easy

mkdir my.g.drive
cd my.g.drive
grive -a ;#copy past the link and allow access

and whenever we need add and update files, just running

grive ; # in the my.g.drive

will work as expected.

Why are you guys so resistant to simple and useful utilities; and force difficult and time wasting utilities like drive (unreliable, you have to remember when to push and pull) and rclone (which will waste a lot of time) just like you were unwilling for multiple desktops in the beginning?

You didn't request grive2, you requested grive. grive is no longer maintained.

Oh, sorry then! I'll re-request for grive2 with proper URL. Thanks.
