Description

  • Manager Accounting
-[[ URL |  https://www.manager.io/ ]]

- This is a very powerful yet simple accounting package that is available on Windows, Mac & Ubuntu/Fedora Linux. It is easy to setup, easy to enter, and has a great documentation system behind it. It can also be used on the cloud. The Desktop version is free, and the moderator at the forums on the Manager website suggested that I submit it here for inclusion.

- This is //not// Open Source

- Here is the link to their Source File for Ubuntu and then for Fedora: [[ https://mngr.s3.amazonaws.com/17.9.38/manager-accounting.zip | Ubuntu ]] and [[ https://mngr.s3.amazonaws.com/17.9.38/Manager.src.rpm | Fedora ]]

As stated above, the following was given to my inquiry regarding Manager:

@lefo

Why not submit Manager to Ikey and his team with a view to request it’s inclusion in Solus’ equivalent of repo’s.

I think you will find them very approachable people"

Thank you very much for your time.

Given we have no plans on flatpaking or snapping this application, closing as wontfix. I'd suggest reaching out to the respective developers about supporting either of those distribution and container models, or taking on the initiative.

Does this mean that it won't be revisited? For me, this is a must-have piece of software to adopt a new version of Linux. I like the idea of a rolling release however not being able to see what software is available to install is a worry if terms like "Wontfix" are used in conjunction with software applications - I can only assume that is something that will not be considered into the future either - please correct me if I have the wrong idea of what this means?

IMHO, it's mean the software will not be included in Solus' repository. First, I think it's because the application isn't open source, so Solus can't distribute the application. And it's not the responsibility of Solus developer if the application doesn't support Solus.

You can reach out to original developer and say you want Solus support. Or, you can make them package the software to Snap Store or Flathub, so you can install the application easily using snap or flatpak.
