mesalib update to 17.1.8 breaks on GCN 1.0
Closed, ResolvedPublic

Description

Title. GPU is 280x. Screen would just freeze and not take input (ctrl alt f1). Had to boot into another distro, chroot into solus and build mesa manually.

Edit: bit of a brain fart.

Whats a GCN 1.0?

GCN 1.0 GPUs like the 280x/7970ghz/7970.
Radeonsi.

I have a 270x which is GCN 1.0 - in what way is your system broken? I haven't seen any problems so far.

When I update to the new mesalib, solus doesn't boot up. I can't even use ctrl+alt+f1, it just freezes and stays black.

Are you using the amdgpu or radeonsi kernel driver?

I'm using the stock (linux-current) kernel (IIRC it's the amdgpu-si).
