As far as I can tell gnucsh wasn't ever successfully built. I see 2.6.7 in the git repository but nothing in the eopkg repo.
and it wont be built. It's asking by default an old webkit version for a help viewer and it can't be built with what we have. And we don't want to really build webkit1 due to issues.
This is a real blow as it means that solus is one of very few distros not to have this software :(
I don't fully understand. Is this still using web kit 1 or whatever was the issue in Sep? I am Finance Officer for American Legion Post and I really need this package to do my job. This means I will have to run two distros I guess.
from what I understand, it's going eventually to be rewritten upstream, but right now it'll stay stuck on webkit1 which we will not include. Too many security issues with that and itself is no longer supported by the original developers (webkit1 that is).
Just would like to add that I would love this program to be on Solus. I have been talking in the Solus IRC about this issue. It is a shame that GnuCash is not on the OS platform but I do understand that if it's going to cause issue then it should not be on the polished Solus build. Anyway some of the IRC people have recommend installing Skrooge. This can replace GnuCash if you really want to use Solus but you might be at risk of some issues with importing and you might have to be willing to learn how it works.
Love Solus but my work flow requires GnuCash and I not am willing to spend the time learning a new accounting platform.
I might run a VM, Dual Boot or just use another OS that can run GnuCash.
I have been really impressed with this project.
There is a GnuCash bug listing for this issue, if you want to follow it: https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=751635
This is now resolved upstream, maybe have another look at it. I too would love to see GnuCash in Solus.
Not quite yet. It's fixed in the 2.7 branch but that is unstable. This wont be fixed until they ship 2.8
In the meantime can it be ran through WINE or POL? btw, looking forward to see it soon on the sofware center
It can be run with flatpak. You would have to install it first though. So sudo eopkg it flatpak, then use the instructions on the flathub page info on how to install.
Re-opening now that GnuCash 3.0 is out with support for both GTK3 and WebKit2Gtk API, meaning it's officially unblocked from inclusion in the repo.

@JoshStrobl , kindly assign this task to someone. I have been waiting to use Gnucash for very long.
I filed my return this year using LibreOffice Calc, it was not pleasant. I really want to use a good accounting app.
@hersh or you could be patient. I was discussing this with Josh and there will be something soon.
gnucash is now in the unstable repository, if you notice any issues please create a seperate task for them.
