Keyboard layout after installation is not correctly set on login screen
Migrated to GithubPublic

Description

Hello Solus devs,

I just installed Solus in a VM to test version 3 and I encountered some issues with the keyboard configuration (and I remember it was already there on version 2 when I tested it a few weeks ago)

During installation, the keyboard layout can be changed by selecting it in a list, but when you try it in the text-box at the bottom, it appears to not being changed dynamically. Anyway I have been able to complete the installation and configuring my user account and password.

But after rebooting, I get to the login screen and the keyboard layout is the default one (en_US) so I couldn't type my password !
I had to display the onscreen keyboard to type it, and then (after logging in) I had to go to the Settings menu > "Region & Languages", and then click the "Login Screen" button to put the same keyboard layout that is used for my session.

Shouldn't it be the same by default?
I really like this distro and don't want this kind of issues to give a bad impression to a first time user.

Thank you for your awesome work!

Just hit this bug. My laptop has UK keyboard and my password has symbols. I just switched from my default "1111" password I used for the installation, and then I could not log in again.

I suspected the login was using default US keyboard, so I typed the symbols of my password by looking at a US keyboard layout and it worked ( = so it's confirmed that the layout was US).

Also the setting to change it is kinda awkward, if franklinovitch above didn't say how to change the keyboard layout of login screen I would have never found it myself.

Come on guys, this is not cool for anyone that does not have a US keyboard.

I had the same problem when trying to install Solus yesterday, I tried to set my keyboard layout to the french variant "bépo". I managed to type my password using the virtual keyboard at the login screen.
But then I didn't found the "Login Screen" button mentioned by franklinovitch.
Other than that everything is set correctly once logged in.

Just to confirm that on the bottom of the "Choose keyboard layout" page in the Solus installer it says "type here to test your keyboard layout" and it does not use the selected keyboard layout for testing.

Also ran into this with disk encryption. It seems that the encryption password prompt assumes US keyboard layout.

But then I didn't found the "Login Screen" button mentioned by franklinovitch.

Unfortunately it seems like with the new settings interface, this button has been removed.
So now you can't even fix this problem anymore.

I actually saw the button “Login screen” but the only thing that happened was that my settings window closed.
