Name: mlbviewer
Homepage: https://sourceforge.net/projects/mlbviewer/
Why should this be included in the repository: MLB.tv kinda works okay in Google-chrome, but is a real crap shoot
If we already offer similar software in our repository or third party, please provide information on what your proposed software does that our existing offerings don’t: browsers kinda work, chrome being by far the best, but the experience is lame and a half
Is it Open Source: Yes, but the video files it plays are patent encumbered h.264 using HLS streaming, but it does work in mplayer, mpv, and vlc easily
How many users do you anticipate will use this software: Truthfully, only really americans who are willing to pay the ~$100 per season, but with cable subscriptions declining, probably an increased amount over time

It's only a python package that takes a few seconds to install manually, so I understand if you don't include it in your distro, but MLB.tv hasn't touched their API in almost 4 years so updates are few and far between so it shouldn't be too too much work for a package maintainer. Since there is nothing else for Linux users besides the crappy web browser it is a nice thing to say you have. Ships in Debian(and Ubuntu), but as far as I can tell nothing else.
