firewalld
Closed, ResolvedPublic

Description

Open source (GPLv2) firewall management system. From their website:

Firewalld provides a dynamically managed firewall with support for network/firewall zones that defines the trust level of network connections or interfaces. It has support for IPv4, IPv6 firewall settings, ethernet bridges and IP sets. There is a separation of runtime and permanent configuration options. It also provides an interface for services or applications to add firewall rules directly.

Does firewalld work outside of Fedora? I've only ever seen it there and its a huge pain in the arse to use.

Don't know about this. I'd have to build it locally and do some tests.

Alright - would be good to know before we try to shoehorn :D Remember SELinux won't be coming to Solus either, so it'll need to obey that

Needs ipset (http://ipset.netfilter.org/index.html) which in turn seems to depend on kernel features. This starts to be complicated.

As far as I know, firewalld (and it's gtk applet) does not have anything to do with 'selinux' directly. Almost all major distributions, including Debian, Ubuntu, OpenSuse, Fedora, RHEL, Arch Linux, have it in their official repositories.

Alright guys. I have been actively looking into this and it's accepted for inclusion, so please no more comments.
