Installer doesn't distinguish between two separate Solus installations
Migrated to GithubPublic

Description

I was trying to install Solus GNOME but the installer doesn't recognize Solus MATE and Solus Budgie as two distinct installations and doesn't give me a choice to automatically replace one of them. My other elementary OS installation is also not recognized. Ideally, I would like to be able to replace the elementary OS installation without having to manually assign mount points to partitions.

Goal: The installer should find all existing installations (up to triple boot) and allow to automatically replace one of the three existing installations with Solus.

The Replacement option is only offered for the largest contiguous Linux installation, by design. It is only supported in this mode.
As alternatives we offer dual boot and wipe strategies.

I see. Is there a specific reason why this limitation is at place?

Simplicity of execution and design, really. It is a bit limited I'll agree.

Comments were removed as they are unrelated to the immediate issue. While I don't think it is unreasonable to include a wipe operation for old partitions, that is a separate issue from Solus editions being able to be installed along side one another.
