What does this have to offer compared to say Darktable?

darktable can make HDR image but it's not always perfect, Luminance_HDR is the FOSS tool for this purpose. It offers several tonemapping operators.

I've packaged it

@Devil505 You should be creating a separate task for Patch Submission. Further, the patch needs to be a single git formatted patch file which also includes the (now-missing) Makefile.
