JoshStrobl moved this task from Backlog to Improvement on the Software board.

@streambinder I removed your comment as you should not be sharing eopkg files via Phabricator. Patches come in a git formatted patch form, on a separate task and I won't be accepting updates to N1 unless it is built from source.

@JoshStrobl my apologies, didn't know about any policy about what uploading right here. Just followed the way n1 was previously assembled. Which is the reason you want to move to a dinamically built version?

Have there been any updates on this task? I don't mean to sound impatient or anything I just saw this has not been claimed by anyone yet.

Hey i would like to know if there is any updates? I really need this e-mail client for working and using the .deb is very annoying. I have to open a bunch of folders just to open the e-mail client nylas-mail. The N1 in Solus repositories is impossible to use because it doesn't work.

Thank you in advance. Loving Solus!

Hi everyone! I also really need this email client to work. Is there anything I can do to progress this package being updated? Is there any reason why this has not been worked on yet?

Thanks,
Alec

Just a heads up, I'm currently working on this.

I have it compiling from source, just need to finish writing the scripts to get it installed properly.

I talked with @ikey on IRC about this, but wanted to log my thoughts here for people searching for nylas-mail.

While I got the package to install on my machine, connect to my account, and retrieve my email, I wasn't able to send any emails. It looks like there are a lot of bugs like this and upstream has been pretty quiet. There's now talk of a possible fork. The fork got a response from nylas saying they're going to try to be more engaged with people contributing to the project.

I think if we were to add this package now, it would be broken and wouldn't be helpful to anyone wanting to use it. I'd like to hold off, wait and see how nylas responds, and possibly look into adding this in the future.

@RexMorgan

To tell you the truth the N1 have a lot of bugs, as i told you guys before, i'm using the new Nylas-Mail just opening the .deb archive and the software works fine. The problem is i can't install it on Solus because it doesn't support .deb extesions. Take a look at this print:

Thanks.

I guess this can be closed as it is dead... There is already a package request for the successor: T4674
