I think some of the dependencies are missing.

liblastfm is missing for sure.

Yeah,I found this problem too,I'll try to ask devs about this.

Just means liblastfm needs to be packaged. Just like any other dependencies.

Hands down the best player/organiser in the linux world :( But I do understand the need to be up to date w.r.t. Qt libraries. Such a shame!

There seems to be a qt5 branch on github: https://github.com/clementine-player/Clementine/tree/qt5.
Would this be an option?

I think it might be.

Not sure if I am allowed to open a closed issue. And not sure if it is right for me to do so. So apologies to the mods if I am overstepping here!

Well their release is still from April so no. And don't reopen issues.

Is this the reason why the appimage doesn't work? http://asksolus.com/question/how-to-run-clementine/

Does that mean we can install that following the instructions at the github link?

  1. If you want support, there are official places to get it. I won't reply to queries that were done on AskSolus.
  2. Assuming their Qt5 port is finalized, potentially. But it isn't being included because they don't have a versioned release with Qt5 support.

My favorite music player. :-(

Keeping an eye on the qt5 branch, currently not compiling but there have been commits on one of the dev's own github repo.

snap install clementine

The snap looks god-awful. It has a horrible Windows 98 look. ):
Waiting on the qt5 branch, too! ?

Yes, you can install it with snap but it won't load your music directories. Shows several errors in terminal.

I'd be happy to help maintain this when/if the upstream developers create an actual "stable" Qt5 release. Until then, it can't be included.
That's the primary thing that's holding this back, the upstream developers themselves.

Status of Qt5 port: https://github.com/clementine-player/Clementine/issues/3463

Issue regarding lack of new releases, despite >~500 unreleased commits to master: https://github.com/clementine-player/Clementine/issues/5958

The primary issue here is that the upstream developers don't appear to be responding to issues 'n' such. The screenshot below summarizes the current situation with this project pretty well.
Not good news for anyone who's a fan of Clementine - it seems like a semi-abandoned project for the time being. ?

TL;DR
?☠️

JoshStrobl changed the task status from Wontfix to Locked.Jan 10 2019, 3:11 PM

Closing permanently in favor of T7475: Strawberry Music Player, which is a fork of Clementine that supports Qt5.

This task has been locked.
