Why should this be included in the repository?
The Prey Project's "Prey" Anti-Theft application is a well regarded, open source, and free service that offers transparent protection for anyone using their laptop on the go. I believe this should be included in the repository as it offers a strong and useful service at the low price of free. There are paid plans, of course, which add a few extra features, but the free service alone can offer users some peace of mind that, in the event of their laptop being stolen, there are safeguards in place. I have used this service for quite a long time and I very much trust the company. I feel that their offering of their code to demonstrate transparency deserves a level of trust I wouldn't give to otherwise closed anti-theft companies.
We currently do not have any anti-theft software available to Solus users.
Is it Open Source?
Yes
How many users do you anticipate will use this software?
As of writing, I know at least 4 people who have or have tried to use Prey on their system through manual installs. There were a couple of comments on a Reddit thread announcing this program's compatibility which expressed interest or liking to the company's philosophy. I do not have a hypothetical number to throw out there, but I believe that more will come to use it so long as it is offered or talked about. It is especially useful for laptop users, such as myself, as well as anyone who does not find the use of anti-theft software to be invasive, so long as it operates for that sole individual.
Prey is a popular project with millions of users around the globe. I'm sure there are plenty of people who would find this service useful.
