This happens about every other kernel.

This is vanilla hardware that is mostly working otherwise.

These problems made me discard solus for a developer that was asking for mac, and we sorta consider getting him on board with linux. The reality is that linux, in its best incarnation for desktop (Solus), is too buggy for anyone but a masochist.

Linux under normal usage isn't all that buggy to be perfectly honest. Something like this is usually caused by an ACPI implementation flaw which is 100% on the hardware vendor. The kernel has loads of patches to address these sorts of things, but sometimes the best option is to disable ACPI altogether. But again, without any further information, there's nothing I can suggest.
