Note : fingerprint-gui used to work on Ubuntu 16.04 LTS.

Please provide more specifics, aside from the irrelevant "x works on some other distro".

with:

Bus 001 Device 003: ID 147e:2016 Upek Biometric Touchchip/Touchstrip Fingerprint Sensor

fprint would be nice. Maybe the Fingerprint-GUI still works. Its very aged...
