We have it as a library because of zim. That is not the full program. It has a GUI and this is what I'd need to use.

The library and the GUI are the same package. We don't have it for Zim, we have it because I use it for publications and needed it for GRAMPS to work on genealogies.
That aside, I have added gvedit into graphviz and it will be available on the next sync:
