Is there any reason why this outdated, non-maintained software should be added to the repo, when we already have Gnome Screenshot as well as @cybre's budgie-screenshot-applet?

well...I think it has a great features...such as using the sftp / ftp for uploading photos as well as editing them...and more...the last version is from 24-Dec-2014! which it's really old...but I'v been using it greatly with Debian (an old version too not the latest one)

It's gotta be asked, have you used the SFTP/FTP functionality at all?

yes..I use it everyday...I have a FTP server on a VPS I host screenshots on it to share it with people...and that's program really helps me...any way I can use filezilla to manually upload my capture..through the gnome-screenshot...

Well if someone wants to tackle Shutter, they're welcome to. Obviously I'd much prefer that budgie-screenshot-applet just continue to get some love, since I think that would be the most sensible, maintained, and integrated option going forward, but given that Shutter offers functionality unique to it and not available in other options like Gnome Screenshot, I don't see why it can't be added.

well...if the budgie-screenshot-applet supports FTP/SFTP upload...then shutter will be just an option xD

No, it doesn't. You need to talk to @cybre about that one :)

Actually I tested out the applet...it's great..and very powerful...if it has the sftp/ftp feature it will be the ultimate screenshotter... @cybre you ROCK man! I forgot to mention that the shutter providing auto-clipboard plus a custom http URL for the website that it will preview the image you uploaded throught the built-in FTP client ;)

After evaluation of the "source tarballs" via their source code page, I have noticed that their "source" is solely a binary and share content. Thus, it won't be included.

It's a perl script. Still no build (install) system, though.

Hi guys...so does that mean the source code is not function at all? or at least to be packaged ?
I downloaded the source and it seems like you said...it's a binary...so does that mean I can run it in solus without a package ?

UPDATE: it seems the maintainer of shutter said : Latest source packages are available here. If you build a package for your distribution, please let us know – we’ll link to it.

it's like the source code is not meant for packaging in the first place you have to contact the developer or does that mean they will link the new package for that new distro?

Thanks

Shutter has been updated to version 0.94. name

Please consider adding it to the repos now.

@cloxy I looked into it. Seems like it would be a pain to package. There is no build system from what I can tell. I'm not even sure if the tarball that they call their source code contains the actual code.

@tristan957 Yes, I know. Steve also tried, but it was a real pain in the neck. See here for more details Add a better screenshot tool by default

Thanks.
