Optional but helpful dependencies for Keepass
Closed, ResolvedPublic

Keepass optionally requires packages xsel and xdotool to get around clipboard issues and enable autotype. It'd be cool to have these available in the repo, preferably as required (since people likely won't know to install them) but optional would work too (since they technically are optional, even if they make it more usable).

Both are open source. Links below: - -

Not gonna happen. xdotool alone hasn't been updated since 2011.

I just found GitHub repos for both xsel and xdotool which much more up-to-date code than is linked to on either website even though it is the same project and not a fork. xsel does not have releases but there is an open issue for providing them, so I'm hoping that gets done.

In any case, here are the repos:

That's great but xsel still hasn't had a release in over 9 years. I see their git is getting the occasional commits so hopefully we'll see a release soon.

Any chance this can get re-opened? xsel is still not included in the repos, and it has commits as recent as 24 of August this year.
My original post was closed as duplicate and merged into this one, and this one is now closed only after xdotool being added to the repos, ignoring xsel.

Is it to much trouble to include xsel in your repos?

This was closed prior to the policy introduction which says if a thing exists in multiple distros we can make allowances. So yeah, lets re-open.
Now i dont think thats the right xsel is it though?

I'm 99.99% sure its correct. OPs link to xsels homepage is the same as the first result on google.
In the download section section its under "Development versions are available via Git"

Alright cheers - i'll git build it then
