Add InScript keyboard layout as an option to Input Sources
Closed, ResolvedPublic

Description

Support for input in Hindi language via Bolnagri and Wx layouts is present in Solus. However, the standard keyboard layout as decreed by the Indian government is the InScript keyboard layout. It is the most popular and standard layout for writing Indian scripts including Devanagari, Bengali, Gujarati, Gurmukhi, Kannada, Malayalam, Odia, Tamil and Telugu.

Please add it to Solus.

Looks like this is solved with ibus-m17n. I'll take a look at this later today.

Were you able to figure out how we could add it to Solus? The reason I ask is that otherwise I would have to start learning the available keyboard layout - Bolnagari or Wx. Please advise.

I found the Indic layout, it is labeled Indian.

I'll be looking into ibus-m17n later today/tomorrow. That seems to be where it comes from. I have no idea what layouts it provides.

@baimafeima You don't need to create an upstream issue for everything like this.

Going to have to dig into this some more. It builds fine, but when loaded ibus-daemon logs the following error:

ibus_m17n_engine_callback: assertion 'm17n != NULL' failed

@ikey any thoughts?

Yeah, I limit this to projects I am personally interested in.
