- D1018: Initial version of gsm
I use Ring, don't use Tox. I would love to see it included so I don't have to switch my family (again) to another service. I also do software comparisons and would like to do so going forward using Solus. So this would be a tremendous help. Thanks! :)
Looks like this needs dbus-c++ to build, but it hasn't been updated since 2012, does that make it a non-starter for inclusion in the repos?
@kyrios123 Latest tarball from 03-Aug-2017: http://dl.ring.cx/ring-release/tarballs/ring_20170803.2.5fcfe3f.tar.gz
I have high hopes for Ring as Wire currently doesn't seem to support input of Chinese characters and qTox audio and video functions are currently unusable.
Ring seems to be a very active solution, they publish a tarball every week : https://dl.ring.cx/ring-release/tarballs/ !
With gsm in the repository, are there any more dependencies missing? Would be great to see Ring land before Solus 4 goes live.
From what I can tell dbus-cpp has moved to https://code.launchpad.net/dbus-cpp and the latest update was released in 2017.
This has sat in accepted for inclusion for over a year. Clearly, there is a lack of demand for the inclusion of this software, nobody has stepped up to provide a patch, maintain it, and properly integrate it. Closing as a result. Feel free to reopen but only when someone offers a patch via our proper patch submission methods and volunteers to be maintainer.
If I find some time I'll try to work on it.
@der_eismann It would be great to have Ring in the repository. Would you still help package and maintain it?
To solve this task, we need to package (at least):
- secp256k1 - https://github.com/bitcoin-core/secp256k1 (no release provided)
- opendht - https://github.com/savoirfairelinux/opendht
- pjproject - https://www.pjsip.org/
I have achieved to build opendht + pjproject for now but they are untested build
