As the title implies, this specific (internal) wireless adapter can't search for networks, at least on my laptop (Lenovo Ideapad 300-15ISK).

Update:
It seems that I was wrong, the problem lies with the wireless reception being extremely weak.
I had tried again within a meter of the router, and it managed to pick up 1-2 bars, where on windows I would have full reception (according to the CLI, since the GUI isn't the the most reliable on Windows (even on Windows 10 it shows nearly full to full reception where reception is weak).
