What integration features does it offer that the webpage doesn't? i.e. what is the value-add

And you can already use Franz from 3rd-Party repo to access WeChat. I don't see any value in yet another electron web wrapper.

I don't know if Franz has a Chinese language user interface and a full implementation of all features of the web version. I tried to install it through the third party instructions but the installation failed:

Remote file can not be reached.

It seems that the source Franz-linux-x64-4.0.4.tgz cannot be fetched.

I have talked to the developer and Electronic Wechat offers a few more functions which are valuable additions to what Franz offers. With Electronic Wechat you can block recalled messages, that is, when others recall a message, it remains visible in Electronic Wechat. Electronic Wechat also offers a subscription tab which is absent in the implementation Franz offers. Aside from this, many Chinese users I have talked to are looking for an app which actually behaves like a native app. While Franz comes close to emulating the look and feel of WeChat, Electronic Wechat does a better job at that and feels more like a standalone (even though "unofficial") application that Chinese users will immediately feel familiar with.

Alright, sold.

I've been packaging a lot of electron apps lately, so why not another one.

Could you help me to get this one packaged or anyone else who'd be willing to help out? Unfortunately, I need to use WeChat for tutoring some of my Chinese students and at least for new students this is the go-to platform until I can move them to a more secure solution.

I'm using the binary release from .

It works fine on solus except for one problem: ibus Chinese input method doesn't work.
I'm highly motivated to see native electron wechat in Solus, so I talk to my colleagues and customers.

If some one familiar with packaging electron-based software, please give me some pointers, and I will give it a try.
