Unable to Delete My Own Phabricator Account
Open, Needs More InfoPublicBUG

Description

Hi all,

I haven't used Solus for a number of years and would find it useful to delete my account on Phabricator. However, the box for disabling my own account in settings is greyed out and presents a permissions error when clicked. If possible, it would be useful to allow users to delete their own accounts. (I'm not totally sure but some process like this might also be required by the "right to be forgotten" part of GDPR.)

Best,
Alec

AIUI, the way phabricator works makes it a Bad Idea™ to outright delete an account, as deleting an object in the store has all sorts of bad side effects.

From a project/dev tracker perspective, I think the best we can offer is to disable it. Would that be acceptable to you?

Possibly, do you know if disabling one's account notifies/signals to others trying to @ someone in a conversation that this person is no longer around/not to expect a response?

It does not but at the very least you won't receive those emails anymore.

Also, I can go through some measures to at least anonymize your username and replace your Phab account email with a dud one. It's basically manipulating the database directly at that point, but it would go further towards respecting one's right to be forgotten. It won't replace any references you made to yourself in pspecs and the like though, so I leave it up to you to determine if it's worth it to you or if account disabling is sufficient.

@alecbcs

Do you want us to disable your account then?
