Monitors not going to sleep on KDE Wayland
Closed, ResolvedPublic

Description

The monitors on my Desktop PC have stopped going to sleep and they will just stay on forever unless I press "esc" on the lock screen.
Running unstable and everything is updated.

Bug I think might be related: https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=462695

Event Timeline

Note that the KDE case was closed, citing it as a downstream packaging issue.

I was able to reproduce this on my system, with a Plasma Wayland session.
In Energy Saving:
Set Dim Screen after 1 min
Set Screen Energy Saving - switch off after 2 min

Screen was not dimmed or switched off after 3 minutes.

Per this comment the file KF5IdleTimeWaylandPlugin.so should exist in /usr/lib/*/qt5/plugins/kf5/org.kde.kidletime.platforms/KF5Idle

This file is not found on my system:

❯ find /usr/lib/ -iname KF5IdleTimeWaylandPlugin.so

Fedora's fix

This doesn't appear to be fixed. There is no change in behavior on my system after a system update. I verified I have the updated kidletime package installed.

❯ eopkg info kidletime
Installed package:
Name : kidletime, version: 5.105.0, release: 67

Maybe working now after the rebuilds?

It's been fine for me since the update to kidletime.

Did a system update with the rebuilds included. This bug is resolved.

There's a separate, unrelated issue.
Sleep works, but monitor dimming only partially works. Filed upstream.
