Why we should include this into the repository, i.e. what does it do that the alternatives do not?
There are not many Wayland compatible input methods, but fcitx is one of them (on Xorg ibus works). Additionally, people from Taiwan, who depend on traditional Chinese/bopomofo (also called zhuyin) input method does not use simplified Chinese/pinyin for typing. As far as I've found, this is one of the few options on Wayland for bopomofo/zhuyin input method.
Is it open source?
Yes, MIT
If it is open source, please provide a link to the most up to date, versioned source tarball/zipfile. master.zip links will not be accepted.
