There are many scripts that depends on this package. For example I have configured a new conky theme which needs this package to get the hddtemp. Also, I want to setup some crontab for checking the HDD temp. If the tempresture is more than a certain temp them I laptop will turn off automatically. I have some small servers running on my laptop and I need to check the temp.
