It can be done for some time already by setting the varialble CALIBRE_PY3_PORT but the fact you have to explicitly set this means it's still not officially supported (also they didn't tell anything about python 3 in the release notes of this major version).
So I guess it's wiser to first do the switch from webhkit to webengine and then experimenting with python 3.
