Summary

NOT READY FOR MERGING, THE LINUX-LTS KERNEL MUST BE UPDATED FIRST

DO NOT INSTALL THIS IF YOU ARE USING LINUX-LTS OR A CUSTOM KERNEL OLDER THAN 4.15

Release Notes:

Additional changes:

  • Allow users of the sudo group to have read-only access to the system journal without using the sudo command. Read/write access still requires use of the sudo command

Depends on D13695 (for a build fix)

Test Plan
  • Booted system
  • Checked that user in sudo group could now access the journal

Nice work but part of me starts to wonder whether it is more work to find and switch all these cases to sudo or somehow move all users to wheel with qol-assist and drop all of these package workarounds.

I think consistency is better, but I have no issue with that. I'm not really hunting for these, I'm just fixing them as I come across them.

This is submitted for initial testing, but should not be merged until linux-lts is updated to a new major version.

I've booted a couple of systems with this and used them for a while with no obvious issues, but have not performed extensive testing beyond that.
