Summary

Release Notes:

Closes T9802

Test Plan
  • Rebooted after installation
  • Tested various commands (umount, dmesg, lsblk, lscpu, uuidgen)
  • Checked systemd logs for anything unexpected
  • Mounted and unmounted a folder
  • Chrooted into the build environment and ran make test
  • Used rfkill to disable and enable bluetooth

Additional things that could be done:

  • Nuke static libs
  • Switch to Python3 (I see some commit messages from ~2 years ago that it's not yet time to introduce python3 into system.base, perhaps that time is now?)
  • Add libcap-ng as a builddep which would add the setpriv command

Should I do any of these?

While I appreciate the patch, system.base should really be left to the Team and I would want to personally audit the util-linux changes.
